IX Intercontinental Circuit 2024
International, Intercontinental
It’s been nine years since we started this little adventure of uniting two continents, five countries, in one activity, one international passion, the photography.
So, we meet again to present the ninth edition of the Intercontinental Circuit where we gather the efforts of Andorra, Catalonia, Cuba, Panama and the Dominican Republic.
In these nine years, the landscape of international photography has changed. On the one hand, the COVID pandemic forced us to look for new ways of communication in order to be able to continue the organization of the Circuit with some normality. On the other hand, also, the participation of photographers in international salons has apparently dropped considerably.
I say apparently because, in reality, the photographers must be more or less the same, in number, but what has changed is the number of salons that are organized each year. There are currently close to 700 international salons sponsored by FIAP and this means that photographic artists have to choose more in which salons they want to participate.
This forces us, as organizers, to be careful in the treatment of the photographers who entrust us with their works, to work with the highest quality and respect for the participants so that they will be faithful to us in subsequent editions.
Looking at the evolution of participation, we believe that, after a drop in participation compared to the first years, in recent editions we have managed to stabilize within a reasonable margin the number of artists who participate in our circuit. As we have already pointed out, this drop is explained more by the large number of salons that have been incorporated under the protection of the FIAP than by poor attention to the participants who, after all, are the ones who give continuity to our circuit. Without them, the photographers, the circuit would not exist.
As always, we cannot forget the committed and effective work done by our jurors to find the best works and artists among the high quality of works that reach us.
Thus, this year, we received 2883 works by 258 authors from 37 countries around the world.
This gives us the push we need to reach the 10th anniversary of our Intercontinental Circuit, which, with your collaboration, we will celebrate next year.
